Special Needs

At Biron Gymnastics we want every child to be a winner, especially those with special needs. By working with these children we hope to give each child more confidence in themselves, by accomplishing skills and building muscles that help them to be stronger.

Studies have shown that there is a strong link between motor skills and brain development. There are many activities that we do at Biron Gymnastics to help connect the neurons in the brains of children and help them to develop physically, mentally and socially. There is a window of time that this will do the greatest good -Early is better. Also with exercise and accomplishing things physically helps a child to release some of the built up energy and possible frustration that the child may otherwise release in a negative way at home or elsewhere.

We want to work with children with various needs, such as ones under the autistic spectrum. Not all, but in many cases we will work with a child privately for 30 minutes each week. After, the parents and coach may feel that the child is ready to go into a regular small class. This is our goal for most of the children, to mainstream them. Hopefully the transition is smooth and the child will succeed in a class with other students. Of course there will be some students that may not be able to adjust to a regular class, but perhaps continue with a private class or try a semi-private class at some point.

We are anxious to help children with special needs and do what we can to assist them to become more confident, courageous, coordinated, active, and stronger, and all the while connecting the neurons and helping in ways in which we may not see right away on the outside, but helping in the long run.
